I always liked how all three members shared the lead vocalist role, usually with each singing the song that he wrote.Īs an elementary school student, I was always confused as to why I never heard America songs on the school bus, or anybody ever talking about them. When we got our new Chrysler van soon after, we would play the CD's of these six "H" albums over and over again, and I eventually had every single song and the track orders memorized. This was the beginning of my love for the band, as well as classic rock/pop music in general. When I was about five, I remember my Mom playing her America mixtape in the stereo of our old Ford Taurus, and being blown away by "Saturn Nights", the closing track of Homecoming.
Even though I'm a 2000's kid, America was the soundtrack of my childhood.
